Homemade Chili
There are a lot of people who keep on arguing whether chili made at home is made with or without beans. Either way, homemade chili is truly fast and easy to make. You can make it in less than one hour. You will only need a little bit of meat, some spices and the like. As for the meat, the most widely used is hamburger in chili recipes. If burger is used, you can choose any from the beef, pork, venison or turkey. You may also choose to make use of stew meat for the recipe. Whatever type of meat you select, it is generally important to brown it before you use it in any chili recipe. For a vegetarian chili, you can use TVP or textured vegetable protein (beef- flavored) instead of meat.

As aforementioned, homemade chili recipe can never be complete without the spices. The most commonly used spices for these recipes are cumin and powder. There are several recipes that need other spices like horseradish, black pepper and red pepper flakes (crushed). Other recipes become even hotter because of their hot peppers or jalapeno. You may visit your local grocery store and buy some chili seasoning in packs to make the “heating” process simpler and much easier. If you plan to cook a chili recipe with beans, dry beans are a great choice. These dry beans include dark or light red kidneys, buffalo or pinto. You may also choose to make use of seasoned or plain canned chili beans. If you want to have the simplest, canned beans are truly the best option.
Before you cook you homemade chili, you have to make sure that the meat is rinsed and drained well so that you can avoid having grease floating in your recipe. The recipe can be served, if desired, with cheese, hot sauce, sour cream, topping onions/ crackers and the like. The amount of seasoning and beans you add should depend o what best fits your taste. If you are serving four persons, a minimum of one pound of meat is needed for a chili recipe. You will also need one green pepper and one onion. These should come with many cloves of garlic. You have to prepare two cans of chili beans and two cans of unsliced tomatoes.
How will you put all these ingredients together? Directions: Add two tablespoons of cooking oil into a large stockpot. Set the oven to medium heat. Add your chosen meat and even brown it followed by one chopped onion and one or two cloves of chopped garlic. Add the chopped green bell pepper and cook until it is soft and the onions get translucent. Add many tablespoons of hot chili powder followed by one or two teaspoons of your desired spices. Add two cans of unsliced tomatoes including its juice. If wanted, you may also stir in one or two cans of seasoned chili beans. Cook this mixture for 30-45 minutes then serve.
